Title: The Stokes conjecture and its related problems
Abstract:
In 1880, G. Stokes conjectured that the free boundary of 2D irrotational water wave has symmetric 120 degree at the stagnation point, which is so-called Stokes conjecture. Varvaruca and Weiss gave a rigorous proof on the Stokes conjecture via a geometric approach in 2011. In this talk, we will introduce the fundamental idea to deal the singularity of the free boundary of the water waves at the degenerate point. Moreover, we will mention our recent results on the singularity analysis on the free boundary of the axially symmetric water wave with general vorticity at the degenerate point.

杜力力,深圳大学数学学院院长、四川大学数学学院教授,博士生导师。2021年获国家杰出青年科学基金,2017年入选教育部“长江学者奖励计划”青年学者,2016年获国家优秀青年科学基金。主要从事非线性偏微分方程及其应用的研究工作,在高维可压缩Euler方程组的适定性、Bernoulli型自由边界问题等研究领域取得了一系列的结果,在国际知名期刊Arch. Rational Mech. Anal., Comm. Math. Phys., Tran. AMS., Comm. PDEs等发表学术论文40余篇。
